Member FAQs

Learn About Our Community

How much involvement is required as a member?

Absolutely none. Montana Youth Action is run by high schoolers. We know you’re busy and have lots of other stuff to do too. Members are encouraged to participate in MTYA activities, but are never obligated to participate in anything they are unable to or simply don’t want to do.

Does membership cost anything?

No. All youth deserve equal access to civic engagement opportunities. Montana Youth Action has never charged a membership fee and our registration will always be free.

What’s the difference between chapter staff and members?

Chapter staff are members with responsibilities. They facilitate chapter activities and oversee chapter operations. All chapter leaders are members of the chapter that have been either elected or appointed to their position.

What’s the difference between Board members and members?

Board members are also still members of Montana Youth Action, but have applied to serve on the statewide Board of Directors and been appointed by the existing Board. Like chapter staff, Board members have many added responsibilities related to running the organization and providing programs across the state.

How do I get involved if there isn’t a chapter in my town or city?

If there isn’t a chapter in your town or city, our best suggestion is reaching out to us to start one. However, even without a chapter, there are still member opportunities offered by the statewide Board that are available to all members. Keep tabs online and on social media to see these programs as they are added!
